Marble-Pattern Walk-In Shower
A light marble-look surround with a built-in niche, fitted into the footprint of the bathroom it replaced.
Tile looks permanent and is not. The grout between it is porous, so it takes on water, discolours, and eventually gives mould somewhere to live that no cleaner reaches. This shower had reached that point.
The replacement is Onyx solid surface, cut to the walls of this alcove and fitted as large panels. The dramatic veining is part of the material rather than a print on top of it, and because there is almost no seam and no grout at all, keeping it clean is a wipe down.
Chrome fittings, a frameless glass enclosure and a recessed shelf set at a usable height finish it.
